Fostering is a way of providing children and young people with a safe place to live and a positivestart in life when they can no longer live at home with their family. Doncaster’s Fostering Team offers a wide range of services and provide support and information to all those touched by fostering in Doncaster.
Fostering should not be mixed up with private fostering which is a private arrangement between parents and carers. If a child under the age of 16 (or 18 if disabled) is cared for by someone who is not their parent or close relative for a period of 28 days or more the parent and carers are required to contact the Children’s trust who must make sure the arrangements meet the needs of the child
The adoption service provides support to prospective adopters and children waiting to be adopted. Adoption is life-long and affects many people in different ways.
