Potential foster carers are being invited to find out more about providing a loving and stable home to children and young people by attending a drop-in in Thorne next week.
Doncaster Children’s Services Trust, who deliver social care services for children, young people and families in Doncaster, are to host the event at Thorne Rugby Club, on Monday 30 January, between 3pm and 7pm.
Current foster carers and social workers will be among those on hand to explain the fostering process, about the children who need foster placements and the benefits of fostering through the Trust – a package which includes extensive training, 24/7support and competitive rates.
Trevor Polson, Trust foster carer, said: “We are always looking for people who can open their home as foster carers to children and young people in Doncaster who unfortunately cannot stay with their parents.
“The rewards of fostering are numerous – not least of which is watching a child or young person develop in confidence and self- belief and experiencing the enrichment they bring to your own home life.
“Fostering through the Trust offers maximum support and training. You never feel alone as the Trust are there 24/7; as well as a team of Fostering Ambassadors who can offer emotional and practical help.”
You don’t need qualifications to be a foster carer, you just need to be over 21and have a spare room in your home. And most importantly have the energy, patience and commitment to take a real interest in the life of a Doncaster child.
