This is Lisa's Story

Pause is a programme that aims to break the cycle of children being removed from their mothers and offer those women the chance to develop new skills and responses that will help create a more positive future.

It works by offering an intensive programme of therapeutic, practical and behavioural support for each woman, providing a bespoke approach designed around their needs.

Pause in action

We first delivered the Pause programme in Doncaster from June 2015 to December 2016. The programme supported a community of 20 women who had experienced or were at risk of, repeat removals of their children from their care.

We are now supporting our second community of women. Earlier this year (2018) we started to work with 22 women, each with their own stories. There have already been many personal successes along the way. Keep an eye out on this page for the latest updates or you can follow us on Twitter @PauseDoncaster.

Here’s a short animation that tells the real-life story of one of the women who has been a part of Doncaster Pause.

You can find out more about the Pause by visiting the national website.

“I was impressed with how well she shared information and discussed the complex concerns. She has supported the young person well to have a voice which was definitely heard today.”
