This is Lisa's Story

We delivered the Pause programme in Doncaster from June 2015 to December 2016. The programme provided support for women who had experienced, or were at risk of, repeat removals of their children from their care.

The programme aimed to break the cycle of children being removed from their mothers and offer those women the chance to develop new skills and responses that will help create a more positive future.

The Doncaster programme worked with around 20 women. Offering an intensive programme of therapeutic, practical and behavioural support for each woman, providing a bespoke approach designed around their needs.

Pause in action

Here’s a short animation that tells the real life story of one of the women who has been a part of Doncaster Pause.

Doncaster Pause was funded by the Department for Education’s Innovation Fund to pilot the programme until the end of December 2016.

You can find out more about the Pause by visiting the national website.

“We feel like we have our town back. We would like to thank you and the police for the work you are doing. People are now feeling they can come into town again.”
