Children’s Trust achieves Ofsted approval for all four children’s homes

The Tickhill Square children’s home in Doncaster was rated Ofsted Good this week, giving Doncaster Children’s Services Trust a seal of approval on every home it operates.

The Trust was set up in October 2014 to deliver innovative children’s social care on behalf of Doncaster Council, including running its four children’s homes. The Tickhill Square report is the third home under the Trust’s management to be rated as Good; the fourth home, at Morrison Drive in Rossington, has been judged as Ofsted Outstanding.

Young artists’ festive designs wow judges

Children in Doncaster have wowed judges with their creative talents in this year's Christmas card competition.

Launched by Doncaster Children's Services Trust Fostering Team together with Doncaster Foster Carers' Association, the competition invited looked after children to draw or paint a picture that captured what Christmas meant to them.

The children taking part were aged from just 17 months to 12 years old. Judges selected a winner from each of three age categories; up to and including year 2, years 3 to 6, years 7 and above, before selecting an overall winner.

Big hearted Doncaster residents stock up Santa’s sleigh

Thousands of new toys and gifts donated by Doncaster residents and businesses are being delivered by 'Santa Express’ to ensure young people have gifts to open on Christmas Day.

Doncaster Children's Services Trust has received more than 1,500 presents from a number of local toy appeals. Trust staff have been busy delivering the gifts to those families and young people who are struggling and would otherwise have no gifts.

Westminster calls for Doncaster teenagers

Young people from Doncaster have shared their experiences with MP’s about keeping in contact with their brothers and sisters when they are growing up in different homes.  

Three members of Doncaster Children's Services Trust Children in Care Council attended the All-Party Parliamentary Group in Westminster last month. They joined other young people to talk about their experiences and share their views on what could be done to improve contact for all brothers and sisters growing up in care.   

Fostering puts an extra sparkle into Christmas

Christmas is a magical time for most children, from the day they start counting down on an Advent calendar to the night they spend listening for reindeer hooves.

Sadly some Doncaster children may never get to share the excitement of the season unless more foster parents can be found.

The Trust finds homes for Doncaster’s children in care and we would love to talk to you if you are considering fostering.
