Fun promised for Fostering Fortnight

Children and carers are to join in the fun as part of a national two week celebration of fostering this month.

Doncaster Children’s Services Trust fostering team have lined up a packed programme of events for Fostering Fortnight, which runs between Monday 8 May and Sunday 21 May, in the hope of attracting more people to become carers.

If you could open your heart and provide a permanent home for a Doncaster child you are invited to find out more by calling at an adoption drop-in information event next week.

Doncaster Children’s Services Trust, is to host the event at The Dome, on Wednesday 17 May, between 5pm and 8pm.

The friendly adoption team and a number of adoptive parents will be on hand to answer all your questions and to explain the adoption process and the benefits of adopting through the Trust. This includes support throughout the adoption and after a child has been placed with you. .

Celebrating Children’s Successes

An annual glittering awards night was held on Thursday 18 May during which an array of successes achieved by young people in care and care leavers were celebrated.

Staged by Doncaster Children’s Services Trust, in partnership with Doncaster Council, the 200 Celebrating Success Awards were presented for educational, artistic and sporting achievements, among others.  

The awards are designed to encourage and inspire young people who live in foster care, or in one of the Trust’s children’s homes.

Helping keep Doncaster safe online

Young people in Doncaster and their parents can find out more about how to stay safe online, thanks to the town’s Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Team.

The team, which includes staff from a range of agencies in Doncaster, will be in the Frenchgate Shopping Centre on 30 May between 9am and 4pm.

There are a number of simple tips to keep young people safe. These are:

Parents can install software on their child’s IT device to filter inappropriate material and to monitor what they are doing online.

Doncaster's Child Sexual Exploitation team are on hand today (Monday 30 May) to help parents and young people learn more about staying safe online .

The team, which includes staff from a range of agencies in Doncaster, will be in the Frenchgate Shopping Centre until 4pm.

They are happy to talk to you about any concerns you may have and also have a quiz to see how much you know about the minimum legal age that young people can register to use a number of popular apps, like Snapchat.
