How the Trust convinced us to quit agency work

Asked why she transferred from agency work to join the Doncaster Children’s Services Trust on a permanent contract, social worker Amanda  said: “I’ve re-discovered the joy of social work.”

Amanda joined the Trust  two years ago on an agency contract and took the plunge to become permanent in June this year.

She said she’d been aware of Doncaster since being qualified in 2009 – but for all the wrong reasons, so was wary of applying when she was looking for an agency job in 2015.

Trust social worker in line for national award

Everyone  at the Trust is celebrating after one of our social workers has been shortlisted in a national award scheme.

Senita Kaur, has been nominated in the Newly Qualified Social Worker (NQSW) category of the prestigious national Social Worker of the Year Awards.

She works in the Trust’s south team and is among seven social workers from across the country who will compete to win the top title at a glittering ceremony to be held in London in November.

Success at Doncaster Superkids awards

Wednesday night saw the shining stars of Doncaster’s children and young people awarded at the Doncaster Superkids Awards, of which Doncaster Children’s Services Trust and Trust Fostering were the main sponsor.

More than 70 children and young people were nominated for the awards, ranging from enterprising star and technology whizz right the way through to fearless bravery and dynamic fundraiser.

Cooking up a great autumn programme

Following on from a packed and successful Summer programme, there’s a busy schedule of activities lined up for young people involved in the Trust’s Targeted Youth Services (TYS) during the autumn.

In response to the popularity of the summer craft sessions, a series is to be run in the coming weeks, with weekly sessions of Christmas Crafting being organised in December.

Fun for everyone during dark nights

Fun filled community events held across Doncaster to celebrate the dark night’s period. 

Over the past couple of weeks police and staff from EPIC, Doncaster Children’s Services Trust Crime Prevention Programme, have been working together to tackle and address anti-social behaviour issues linked to the upcoming dark nights season. 

“Volunteers are the best. People don’t understand or realise how much time and effort it takes to make their young person feel safe and trust them.”
