Child exploitation workers shortlisted for award

Two Doncaster workers have been shortlisted for the fourth time in a national award for their work in helping to tackle child sexual exploitation in Doncaster.

Jayne Pezzulo, who works for Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH), together with Carmel Bartlett who works for Doncaster Children’s Services Trust, have been shortlisted as finalists in the National Working Group (NWG) awards. They have been runners-up four times and hope to clinch the top award this year.

A multi-agency team who are working in partnership to tackle Child Sexual Exploitation (CE) are extra busy this month as they are immersed in continuing to raise the profile of the issue as part of national  CSE Awareness Day.

While the national day is to be held on Monday 18 March, the team – which includes representatives from Doncaster Children’s Services Trust, the Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH), South Yorkshire Police and the Barnardo’s charity, are making moves to promote awareness and offer advice throughout the whole month of March.

Volunteer Mentors needed to support children across Doncaster

The search is on to find over 100 volunteers to be mentors to vulnerable children and young people across Doncaster.

Colleagues at Doncaster Children’s Services Trust are looking for people to spare just two hours a month to help a child or young person raise their aspirations and try new experiences.

Pupils aged 9 to 18 from schools across the borough will be part of the ‘Trusted Mentors’ project, which is being funded through the Department for Education’s Doncaster Opportunity Area programme, following research into the positive impact mentors can have on young people.

Putting the ‘fun’ into fundraising: Trusted Mentors Team supports Red Nose Day

Colleagues at Doncaster Children’s Services Trust raised over £300 for Comic Relief last week (Friday 15th March).

Fundraising activities were organised by the Trusted Mentors Team and included a raffle, tombola, and a ‘Guess the baby’ competition, featuring colleagues from across the Trust. Colleagues also entered a competitive ‘bake off’, which was judged by our Young Advisors.

Child Exploitation team take the trophy

Celebrations are under way after two members of Doncaster's multi-agency Child Exploitation (CE) team walked away with a top title at a national awards ceremony in recognition of their ongoing work in tackling Child Sexual Exploitation.

Carmel Bartlett from the Doncaster Children’s Services Trust and Jayne Pezzulo from the Rotherham, Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust (RDaSH), were presented with the trophy in the Helping Hand category of the National Working Group (NWG) charity’s Unsung Heroes Awards.
