Happy New Year and welcome back to the blog,
This month we are reflecting on the December at the Trust as we were part of multiple projects and processes to help improve our services for children and young people. We worked with multiple teams across the Trust, to offer our advice and opinion. Working heavily with the Children in Care Council and being part of many interview processes.
Last month we held our Children in Care Council and worked with the young people and Tony Holmes, Principal Social Worker, to develop our Practice Standards. We gained feedback from those that attended to find out what our Trust values and visions mean to them and Kanisha then worked with the Communications Team to create a short video. Kanisha did informal interviews with each volunteer that wanted to be featured which was then shown at the Staff Summit as part of a joint presentation with Tony. We hope you all enjoyed what our young people had to say!
Beginning the festivities we worked hard getting ready for Christmas and the New Year and gathered content for our latest edition of our HearMe Newsletter which was distributed throughout the Trust. We included the festive fun in this issue, and we would to thank those members of staff who have helped us distribute this, especially in the hard to reach areas.
Continuing the festive fun we held our Youth Club Christmas Disco for our children and young people at the Mercure Hotel. The disco has a great turn out with lots of festive activities taking place, there was even an appearance from one of Santa’s elves – Jordan. We had lots to do at the disco with crafts, dancing and games. We had a station for Christmas card making, and another station for decorating our Christmas tree creating gift tags that helped us to find out each person’s unique take on our Trust vision and values on how they understand them.
Rounding up the festivities closer to Christmas we attended the Toy appeal collecting lots of great bits and bobs that were kindly donated. We managed to gather together some fantastic things for our young people and care leavers. A massive thank you to all who made this possible.
Lastly we would like to offer a very big congratulations to James Thomas, our Director of Performance and Improvement who has now been appointed as our new Chief Executive and will be stepping into the role in this year. We look forward to continuing our work with your James!
That rounds up another great month at the Trust, we would like to thank you all for making 2019 a very special year for us all. We can’t wait to see what 2020 holds!
Thanks for reading,
Jordan, Amy and Kanisha.
