Job: Chair of the Trust Board

Trust Chair: £750 per day

Doncaster Children’s Services Trust was the first Trust set up under direction from the Secretary of State for Education. Its improvement journey has been closely monitored by the DfE, OFSTED and the Sector. This month an Ofsted Inspection rating of ‘Good’ has been published which is a fantastic achievement for all involved at the Trust. We therefore believe the rapid improvement the Trust and its partners have put in place to transform the services is setting the right trajectory to achieve an Outstanding rating by 2019.

Our current Chair will step down in March 2018 having held a watchful brief over the Trust since its inception in 2014. We have now achieved our first milestone, and have solid foundations to take us further and our Board have recently agreed ambitious plans to sustain the Trust future. The Trust provides services across the whole spectrum of children’s social care: Child Protection, Children in Care, Adoption, Fostering, Youth Offending Services, Family Support. We primarily work within the Doncaster Borough but have ambition to spread our knowledge and experience to support other children’s services across the country.

Our Board is made up of national experts and local partners we also have Staff Directors. Most of our Board has been with us since the Trust started its journey to improve Doncaster Children’s Services and our Chief Executive has been with us the same length of time. So you can see we have a whole wealth of knowledge and experience as a great foundation for our ambitious plans.

We are now looking for an individual that will charismatically lead the board and give direction to a young and dynamic company that has the brief ‘For Children not for Profit’.

The successful candidate will have a track record in board development and supporting an organisation to continue to be innovative, improve and grow. We also need someone who is well versed in managing risk and corporate governance and has experience of working in a political arena.

This is a great time to join us at this exciting stage with our next goal insight of getting Doncaster Children’s Social Care Services to outstanding by October 2019 you will be joining an instrumental player within the Doncaster Partnership that need to work together to achieve this. To find out more informally about this role you can arrange an informal discussion with either Paul Moffat, Chief Executive or Colin Hilton our current Chair by telephoning 01302 737878.
