The role: 

Doncaster Growing Together Place Plan is supported by 7 partners in Doncaster namely:

We are looking for a dedicated professional to be Programme Manager for the children and young people areas of opportunity within Doncaster’s place plan.

The place plan is simply the integration of health and social care across the life course; from conception and the early years, through childhood and adolescents into adulthood and supporting the elderly in later life.

The two areas of opportunity you will be leading on are:

  • The first 1001 days – conception to a child’s 2nd birthday
  • Vulnerable Adolescents – specifically those young people who are looked after or have acute mental ill health

Working with a dedicated group of managers and senior leaders and supported with project support you will drive these two areas of opportunity to achieve the goals and outcomes the Accountable Care Partnership have agreed.

The work is well underway and you will be joining the team at a crucial point of mobilisation which includes designing and trialling new practice through the 2 project plans.

Although this is a strategic change role the day to day job is hands on, working alongside colleagues as well as developing new ideas and researching what works to ensure any new practice has an evidence base and improves the life of children and families in Doncaster.

About you and what we need

It is expected that you will have a professional background in health or social care and have worked with families.  User voice and specifically the voice of children and young people will have informed your own practice which must also influence how the place plan is developed.

You should also be able to show how you have used a systematic approach to service development and implementation and have a working knowledge of programme management methods.  You will be expected to report through an agreed governance structure on progress and identify risks to the work, with clear proposals how to mitigate these to avoid drift and delay in the programme and any impact on the agreed outcomes.

It is expected you will be in a current management position or leading professional practice which can demonstrate continuous improvement. You will have the skills and knowledge to negotiate with colleagues across a number of organisations, bringing sound reasoning and evidence to support key decisions and the business cases for change

You will be supported in this work with direct access to Directors who will act as sponsors for the two areas of opportunity.  You will report to the Director of Children’s Social Care at Doncaster Children’s Services Trust. The Directors across the partnership will champion the work with you and will provide the opportunity to discuss the work and help overcome any barriers within the programme.  This includes planned meetings and by exception as required.
