Call for Social Workers to make a difference to the lives of children in Doncaster

Doncaster Children’s Services Trust is calling for social workers to join and help support its ongoing response to provide vital support for our children, young people and families across the borough.

Trust is hosting an online information event on Thursday, 13 August, from 7pm to 8pm. The event is open to all passionate social workers who want to find out more about how they can join our existing dedicated teams.

Carolyn Jones, Head of Services for Child Protection, said: “Having joined the Trust a week into lockdown, I appreciate that it may feel an odd time to move, but with our great technology and friendly teams you very quickly feel a part of the Trust family.

“OFSTED complimented the Trust’s commitment to keeping children at the heart of Children’s Services and Social Work practice, and rightly so! It has been very obvious in the people I have met at the Trust, that this is the number one priority. I have been struck by a positive ‘can-do’ approach, as social work professionals continue to ensure that vulnerable children are seen in challenging circumstances which is lovely to see.

“This event is a perfect opportunity for child protection social workers to hear from our teams about what working life is like here in Doncaster and how they can join our team. If you’ve got any questions or want an informal chat give us call on 01302 735136. I look forward to seeing you at the event!”

The Trust works with its partners to develop wider training opportunities and career progression pathways. Supporting sector-led improvement across the region and developments of new initiatives that raises the standards of the children’s workforce.

The Trust encourages staff to take up a range of training opportunities so they can develop their practice and the delivery to help benefit our children and young people and to deliver continuous improvement.

Alison a Social Worker at the Trust commented: “The Executive Management Team are motivated in ensuring that social workers and other professionals have the opportunity to progress their development. The training that is offered is a high standard and this provides us with the skills to support children and families.”

At the heart of the organisation is a team of young people who have experienced care – the Chief Executive’s Young Advisors who provide their voice on how services can be improved for the better.

The Trust have created a culture where morale is high, caseloads are manageable and staff feel supported.

Staff at the Trust receive added benefits of extra support through the innovative on hand support and encouraging small teams whereby employees are brought together to support one another and act as an ‘extended family’.

The Trust is looking for social workers who have a can-do attitude, are focussed on providing the best possible care to deliver a high standard level of care. If this sounds like you we would love to hear from you. You can register to join the online information event on our website here or by calling our recruitment team on 01302 736548
