Caring families needed to adopt children in Doncaster

Doncaster Children’s Services Trust Adoption team will be hosting a drop-in event at Doncaster Dome on Wednesday 12 February.

The team and adoptive parents will be at the Dome from 4.30pm to 7.30pm to answer all your questions about becoming an adoptive parent.

Speaking about the need for adoptive parents to get in touch, Adoption Service Manager Claire Holmes said: “At any one time in Doncaster there are around 20 children who need a loving and stable family home.

“Our children who need permanent families come from different backgrounds. Some are babies some are older, some have complex needs and for some we are looking to find a forever family together with their brothers and sisters. We are always looking for adopters who come from a wide variety of backgrounds themselves.

“Becoming an adoptive parent, or family, not only promises personal enrichment but also is a way to help a child who, for all sorts of reasons, cannot live at home with their birth parents. Adopting is a journey that we at the Trust feel honoured to be able to take potential adoptive parents on. We offer full support, both pre and post-adoption and we are always here with a listening ear.”

As well as being able to ask questions and gain a better understanding of the adoption process at the drop-in, potential adopters will also have an opportunity to find out more about the support services offered by Doncaster Children’s Services Trust, both pre and post-adoption.

Claire added, “If you are thinking about opening your home and heart to a child, drop into the event, or give our friendly team a call to chat to them about how you could make a difference.”
