Recruitment Open Day for Social Workers

Social Workers looking to join Doncaster Children’s Services Trust are invited to an open recruitment event in Thorne on Thursday, 13 February from 5.30pm to 7pm.

The event is a chance to learn more about children’s services in the borough, speak to current social work staff, tour one of the localities and find out more about the opportunities for career progression.

There are currently a number of opportunities for experienced social workers within the Trust.

There are many reasons to work for the Trust. We are at the forefront of positive change in social work practice. In January 2018 our services were rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and since then our adoption and fostering services have also been rated as ‘Outstanding’.

We are now one of the Department for Education’s Practice Improvement Partners. By joining the Trust you can be part of a team working with other authorities to improve their social work practice.

At the heart of our business is a team of young people who have experience of care - our Chief Executive’s Young Advisors - who advise on how we can improve our services for other children and young people.

We are proud of the supportive culture we've created.

Tania, a team manager at the Assessment and Child Protection Service in the East Team, who has been with the Trust for over five years says “I feel like I’m part of a big family working for the Trust.”

Louise, a Children in Care social worker in East, who joined the Trust at the end of last year, says she has felt extremely well supported, not only by her immediate colleagues but by those in other teams and from managers.

“Everyone gets on here and is happy to help each other. I felt like part of the team from day one.”

She says the work is fast-paced but she is not overloaded; plus she knows there is always someone to ask if she has a query about anything.

Louise added: “Our Head of Service is always available and both she and team managers sit with everyone else. They are not hidden away in separate offices – and the Business Support team are excellent and very supportive,”

You can read more about Tania and Louise's stories as well as hearing from other members of our team here.

You can register for the open event where you will get to meet more of the Thorne team on our website here

“We feel like we have our town back. We would like to thank you and the police for the work you are doing. People are now feeling they can come into town again.”
