EPIC Mentors

The start of something that changes everything – become an EPIC Mentor.

We are looking for volunteers who can help support young people aged 10 to 17 years-old, through what can be a difficult stage in their life, to develop, grow and learn new things. Find out more about becoming an EPIC mentor.

What is an EPIC Mentor?

EPIC Mentors are volunteers who can offer support to vulnerable and at risk young people aged 10-17 years-old. Volunteers work closely with young people by offering them individually tailored one to one support and positive activities, that helps them to increase their confidence, self-esteem and to  make positive life choices.

What does an EPIC Mentor do?

We are looking for mentors to act as role models and to support a young person through what can be a difficult stage in their life. Our mentors will do this by inspiring them to achieve by encouraging them to develop, grow and learn new things. Mentors must be age 18 years or older and be able to commit to meet a young person for 1-2 hours per week for approximately 12 weeks. (6 month options available)

Can I be an EPIC Mentor?

No experience is necessary as full training will be given to all mentors prior to being matched with a suitable young person. Training will include:

  • An introduction to mentoring
  • Child protection and safeguarding - professional boundaries
  • Action planning and goal setting
  • Budgeting and independent living skills
  • Communication skills

All mentors will be supported and supervised throughout their journey with EPIC and a written reference will be awarded after the service.

“I was impressed with how well she shared information and discussed the complex concerns. She has supported the young person well to have a voice which was definitely heard today.”
