Change a life and become a foster carer

Posted: 13-04-2017

Doncaster Children’s Services Trust Fostering team are inviting people who are thinking about fostering to come along to an information event next week.

The Trust Fostering team are to host the event at their HQ, The Blue Building, 38-40 High Street, on Wednesday 19 April, between 4.30pm and 6.30pm.

The drop-in event is a great way to learn more about the fostering process before making any decision. Current foster carers and social workers will be among those on hand to explain the fostering process and about providing a loving and stable home for the children who need foster placements. There are many benefits of fostering through the Trust –  being a part of an extensive experienced fostering community who are always on hand to offer advice and 24/7 support, comprehensive training and  competitive rates.

Trevor Polson, Trust foster carer, said: “We are always looking for people who can open their hearts and homes as foster carers to Doncaster children and young people who unfortunately cannot stay with their parents.”

Trevor also became a Foster Carer Ambassador with the Trust and is always ready to answer anyone’s queries about becoming a foster carer.

“The rewards of fostering are numerous – but the best thing is watching a child or young person develop in confidence and self- belief and experiencing the enrichment they bring to your own home life,” he said.

Fostering with the Trust offers extensive support and training. You never feel alone as the Trust are there 24/7; as well as a team of Foster Carer Ambassadors who can offer emotional and practical help.”

You don’t need qualifications to be a foster carer, you just need to be over 21and have a spare room in your home. And, most importantly, have the energy, patience, commitment and love to make a real difference to the life of a Doncaster child.
